The German word for Nuremberg is Nürnberg.

Nuremberg, with a population of 500,000, is in Bavaria, 90 miles north of Munich.

Germany’s most famous Christmas Market is held in Nuremberg. The Christkindlesmarkt transforms the town center into a pre-Christmas marketplace specializing in toys and goodies for children. It draws each year more than 2 million visitors.

Lebkuchen, German Christmas cookies similar to gingerbread, were probably invented by monks in the 13th century near Nuremberg.

Albrecht Dürer, a famous German painter and woodcarver, was born in Nuremberg in 1471.

Adidas is named after its founder Adi Dassler who started producing shoes in the 1920s in Herzogenaurach near Nuremberg. Adi’s brother founded a rival company, Puma, in the same town.

The 1. FC Nürnberg is one of Germany’s most traditional soccer clubs and proud holder of nine championship titles.

Nuremberg’s sister city in the United States is Atlanta.

The famous Nuremberg grilled sausages are usually served with Sauerkraut and a dash of horseradish.
